Ham Fried Rice
Ingredients:
1 tsp of avocado oil
1 ham steak; diced (you can use whatever protein you want, or even Spam)
1 onion; diced
1 large carrot; diced
1 1/2 - 2 cups of cooked white rice (preferably a day old and cold)
2 scallions; diced and greens and whites separated
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp of chicken bouillon
1/4 tsp Chinese Five Spice
Pinch of MSG
1 cup of cabbage; diced
2 eggs
In a large pan that can comfortably hold all your ingredients, heat over medium. Add the avocado oil and allow it to heat through, then add the ham cubes. Cook until they’re browned and crispy on the edges.
Stir in the onion and carrot, cooking until the onion turns glossy and translucent without browning. Add the white parts of the scallions and cook briefly to soften.
Add the cooked white rice, breaking up any clumps and mixing well with the other ingredients. Season with soy sauce, sesame oil, chicken bouillon, Chinese five spice, and MSG. Stir thoroughly and cook until the rice is heated through.
Fold in the cabbage and combine well.
Push the rice mixture to one side of the pan, creating an open space. Crack the eggs into the empty side and scramble them until fully cooked, then incorporate the eggs evenly throughout the rice.
Continue cooking until everything is fragrant, warmed through, and lightly toasted. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed before serving.
