The Round Up: November 2025

Food:

  • To celebrate our 3-year wedding anniversary, we enjoyed an incredible omakase dinner at Wa Shin. The intimate 12-seat sushi bar made the experience feel so personal, and every bite was better than the last. Such a special meal — we can’t wait to go back!

  • We took some friends from out of town to one of our favorite spots, Merai Bar in Brookline, MA. The drinks are unbeatable, the food is creative and delicious, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. It’s definitely one of my favorite finds in the Boston area.

  • I took my friend to Simply Khmer in Lowell, MA, and—yet again—we enjoyed an incredible meal. I've loved exploring Cambodian food, and this place continues to be my favorite in the area.

  • I made some Italian-style sashimi— inspired by Swan Oyster Depot in San Francisco—using scallops from Roberto’s Seafood on the North Shore as an appetizer.

  • We spent the second half of November in Northern California with my family for a wedding and for Thanksgiving. Our first restaurant stop in San Francisco is always Kabuto. We’ve been going there for years, and the people are truly the nicest—serving some of the best sushi in the area.

  • While we were home, we made the most outrageous cream-cheese–stuffed French toast with challah bread—so good!

  • Whenever I’m home, one of my go-to lunches is from Mike’s Sourdough in San Rafael, CA. Their sourdough is unbelievable, and their sandwiches are truly unmatched.

  • Another one of my favorite meals to put together when I’m home is a glorious breakfast bagel spread made with smoked fish from Anna’s Seafood at the Marin Country Mart Farmers’ Market.

  • Naturally, the main food event of November was Thanksgiving, and we definitely didn’t hold back. We put together a full feast—tea-roasted turkey, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, Brussels sprouts salad, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, and plenty of gravy.

  • The Friday after Thanksgiving might be my favorite night of the whole weekend—we invite our family friends over for a leftover party/Shabbat dinner. Everyone brings their Thanksgiving leftovers, we warm it all up, and we add brisket and challah to the mix. It’s the best!

Other:

  • ’Tis the season for the Sephora sale — and here are all my spoils! I’m so excited about everything, from new finds to old favorites.

  • We also took a fall weekend trip to Manchester, VT and had the best time! It’s such a charming town with so much to see and do. You can read all about our trip here.

  • We saw Kim’s Convenience performed by the original writer and performer, Ins Choi, and it was fantastic. If it comes to your city, definitely go see it!
